Brexit January 2022

A Goods Movement Reference (GMR) will be required at check-in if you are travelling through the ports of Holyhead, Pembroke, Dover or Calais. To obtain a GMR you must register on the UK’s Goods Vehicle Movement System (GVMS). To register on GVMS you must first obtain a GB Economic Operators Registration and Identification number (EORI number). If you do not yet have a GB EORI, or if you have not yet registered on GVMS, you need to take action immediately.

What will happen if I do not register?
  • Without a valid GMR you will not be able to check in or board the ferry at the ports of Dublin, Rosslare, Holyhead, Pembroke, Dover or Calais.
How will sailings be affected on 31st December 2021?
  • For GB imports (sailings from EU to GB).
  • Before 23:59 hrs on the 31/12/31 - Departing EU: No GMR required.
  • After 23:59 hrs on the 31/12/31 - Departing EU: GMR required.
Do I still need a valid PBN number?
  • Yes, a valid PBN, which was brought into force on 1st Jan 2021 is still required.
